From September 6–8, Latino Evangelical Pentecostal leaders came together as one body in Washington, D.C., to worship, pray, and seek God’s intervention on behalf of immigrant families. Convened by the Confraternidad de Entidades Pentecostales de las Americas (CEPA), they represented 36 states, more than 21,000 churches, and nearly four million members. Together, they demonstrated a growing spiritual movement rooted in prayer, standing in the gap with a united, prophetic voice.

Latino Evangelical Pentecostal Statement on Immigration
Confraternidad de Entidades Pentecostales de las Americas (CEPA) leaders released the Latino Evangelical Pentecostal Statement on Immigration and pleaded for mercy on behalf of approximately 170,000 Salvadorans whose Temporary Protected Status was set to end on September 9. Their public witness was rooted in a seven-day fast and 40 days of prayer in response to the suffering they had witnessed in their own communities and the painful separation of immigrant families.
Mission Talk was honored to serve the Pentecostal leadership by helping to organize the Washington prayer gathering and by assisting with a Temporary Protected Status (TPS) letter urging the federal administration to protect Salvadoran families. Following this collective effort, protections for Salvadoran TPS families remain in place while a final decision is pending.
Pentecostal women pastors of CEPA are coming together to form a Circle of Protection around immigrant families living through fear and uncertainty. Across the country, these women leaders are standing together in faith, compassion, and solidarity, reminding immigrant families that they do not walk alone.
Please keep this historic initiative and these courageous women leaders in prayer as they stand in the gap.

El estado de la pena de muerte: Vidas sagradas en manos de los hombres
More than 50 pastors and church leaders joined Mission Talk on August 25 for The State of the Death Penalty: Sacred Lives in the Hands of Men, a virtual forum examining the death penalty in Florida. Leaders heard directly from a man who spent more than a decade on Florida’s death row for a crime he did not commit. The conversation invited leaders to consider what our faith calls us to do in response.
This conversation is especially urgent in Florida today. Florida carried out 19 executions in 2025. This year, the state has already carried out 15, and more are scheduled. Florida has also exonerated 30 people who were wrongfully sentenced to death—more than any other state.
At Mission Talk, we are creating space for faith leaders to consider questions surrounding the use of the death penalty, from the risk of executing innocent people to what justice looks like in the wake of harm.
Today, there is a faithful remnant that understands that although people on death row may be among those least embraced by society, the Church must still open its arms with mercy, love, and forgiveness.
We invite you to sign the letter as we call on the Governor to lead with greater compassion and to choose mercy and life over death.
A Call to Choose Life
A Mission Talk delegation of faith leaders will travel to Tallahassee to meet with U.S. Congressional representatives and urge their support for S. 4814, federal legislation that would restore and extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians through 2029. As faith leaders, we will raise our voices on behalf of 350,000 Haitian friends and families who for decades have built their lives in Florida and across the nation. Stand with our Haitian brothers and sisters by signing on to this letter and lending your voice to this effort.

Standing in the Gap for Haitian Families
For the past three years, Mission Talk’s Justice Leadership Institute has equipped Latino pastors and church leaders to connect their faith with justice and community transformation. 50 leaders have successfully completed the Institute, marking an important milestone as the program enters its fourth year.
In January, Mission Talk will launch a newly redesigned Justice Leadership Institute (JLI), a one-year formation experience for Latino church leaders who sense God calling them beyond the walls of their congregations into the work of justice and community transformation.
